Historical Background

Among the residential blocks in the center of Yuriev-Polsky stands an old granary that looks unremarkable at first glance. But appearances are deceiving: this small building has official status as a historical and architectural monument and is protected by the state. The granary was built of red brick laid in an intricate pattern, decorated with openwork wrought-iron canopies, and used in the second half of the 19th century as a warehouse for merchants' goods. A century and a half has passed, and the building is still as solid and sturdy as ever.
