Zvenigorod Town Park

🌿 Public garden or park

Historical Background

The park was founded around 1920 on the site of old estates that had belonged to local merchants. In Soviet times the former gardens were expropriated and turned into a recreation area. During perestroika part of the park was given over to housing, but today the park has been almost fully restored and keeps growing, offering a variety of workshops and educational and entertainment programs for children and adults.

Things to Do

Zvenigorod's town park sits on a high hill in the center of town. It is small and cozy, with separate paths for walking and running. There are playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, ping-pong tables, benches and cafés with open-air terraces. The park also has a stage for concerts and theater performances. In winter you can go sledding or snow tubing down the hill. The park is also known for its two wooden footbridges. One leads to the Church of the Ascension, the other into the woods, where an eco-trail and springs make for a nice walk in nature.

Art Installations and Atmosphere

The park has some unique art installations: a carved wooden frame hung with ringing bell plates, and arches that chime melodiously as you walk through them. The park keeps an intimate atmosphere, and from its bridges you can enjoy views of the town.
