During that time Ostashevo belonged to the Muravyov family, and in 1903 Grand Duke Konstantin Romanov moved here. Who exactly built the towers is unknown. The towers were probably guarded and served as a kind of checkpoint into the estate.
There is a myth that the towers' architecture has a hidden Masonic meaning.
