History of the Site

The modern arts quarter occupies the grounds of the former Tekstilmash plant, founded in 1946. But the industrial quarter's history began earlier: in 1931 a gramophone factory of national importance operated here, and it gave the space its name (patefon means “gramophone”). For decades these buildings were closed to the public, and today they have found a new purpose.

A Creative Space

Patefonka was conceived as a creative cluster bringing together art, design, culture and media. The buildings have kept their industrial, loft-like character, which has made a handy base for art workshops, studios and exhibition spaces.

What to See

The quarter is home to workshops, a drumming school, photo studios, a studio making original wooden gifts and floral designs, and museum and exhibition projects. Festivals and workshops are held here regularly. The space has become a meeting point for artists, designers, musicians and audiences, where the industrial past blends naturally with contemporary art forms.

Atmosphere

Factory buildings with brick arches and long corridors make an unusual backdrop for walks and photos. Among the quarter's features are themed art objects: a steam-powered motorcycle, a purple elephant and installations inspired by local history. The atmosphere combines memories of Kolomna's industrial past with a lively contemporary cultural scene.
