Historical Background
Barracks No. 79 is one of the most characteristic buildings of factory-era Orekhovo-Zuevo. It was built in 1896 for workers of the Morozov mills. Originally it consisted of three separate blocks: two stood parallel to each other, and the third joined them in the middle. Later, in Soviet times, the blocks were combined into a single complex. Before the revolution the town was known for its massive brick buildings. The mill buildings and barracks stood out sharply against the small merchant houses and wooden structures, making a strong impression on visitors. Orekhovo-Zuevo was recognized by these brick facades, which became part of the town's architectural identity.
