🗿 Monument
The monument was erected in the 1960s on the site of the Trinity Cathedral, which was demolished in 1937. More about its history: The Trinity Cathedral was built in 1835 with money from the merchant N. I. Milyonushkin.
The church was built of stone, with a stone bell tower. The gatehouse with the sacristy and a shop selling candles were wooden. Around it ran a stone wall with balusters. Among those who served in the church at various times were Valentin Amfiteatrov, one of the best-known ascetics of piety of the 20th century; Evgraf Egorovich Sokolov, father of Varvara Evgrafovna Sokolova, the wife of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky; and Ivan Vasilievich Bogdanov, father of the poet and writer Vasily Ivanovich Bogdanov, author of the famous song “Dubinushka.”
