The youngest daughter of Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich was an active supporter of Patriarch Nikon's reforms. She stood by him to the very end, and after his deposition she petitioned Tsar Fyodor Alexeyevich to ease his lot. After the patriarch's death, at her insistence, his body was reburied in the main Resurrection Cathedral.
The tsarevna was closely involved in the life of the monastery and in continuing its construction. In 1691, in tribute to Nikon's memory, she gave the monastery a reliquary with holy relics: the hand of the martyr St. Tatiana.
