Historical Background

The Anna Semyonovna Golubkina House Museum, at 38 Dzerzhinskogo Street, tells the story of the life and work of the famous Silver Age sculptor. The museum opened in 1974 in the house where Golubkina grew up and spent her childhood.

About the Sculptor

Anna Golubkina (1864–1927) was the first Russian woman sculptor to win international recognition. She studied in Moscow and St. Petersburg and honed her skills in Paris under Auguste Rodin. She is known for works including her famous composition “Old Age,” now in the Tretyakov Gallery. She often visited Zaraysk in the last years of her life and is buried here.

The Museum and Its Collection

The first floor is devoted to Golubkina's work, with original pieces, photographs and documents on display. The second floor recreates the Golubkin family's home as it looked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with antique furniture, books and everyday objects. The museum offers tours for adults and children, as well as workshops in miniature sculpture, drawing and modeling.
