Lotus Lake near the village of Galkino is a well-known landmark and one of the “Seven Wonders of Khabarovsk District.” In summer its surface blooms with pink Komarov's lotuses, relict plants as old as the dinosaurs. For a long time the place was neglected, but now it has been landscaped, with trails, boardwalks, and viewing platforms. The official opening by Governor Dmitry Demeshin took place on July 24, 2026, and the next day the first Lotus Land festival was held.

Read the Sign, and the Blooming Field Looks Different

At the start of the footpath stands a bright information sign, a kind of calling card for the lake. It sets out the rules for the trail, including requests to protect nature and not leave litter behind but throw it into the bin near the sign. It also describes the lake itself and the history of the lotuses, which have grown in these lands since ancient times. Here you can also learn that the lotus is a relict plant listed in the Red Data Book and protected as a natural monument, and that it has been named one of the “Seven Wonders of Khabarovsk Territory,” while Lotus Lake itself is one of the “Seven Wonders of Khabarovsk District.” It's a great place to take your first photo and get in the mood for the walk.
