“A piece of Heaven on Far Eastern soil”: that is what the sisters call their convent, which stands in a picturesque spot on the shore of Lake Petropavlovskoye. The bell tower offers a breathtaking view of the lake's blue waters, emerald forests, and endless open plains. The idea of founding a monastery in the Amur region goes back to St. Innocent (Veniaminov). It began to take shape under Bishop Makary (Darsky), who invited Hieromonk Alexy (Oskolkov) from Mount Athos. In 1894 Hieromonk Alexy began searching for a site for the monastery, but the chosen place flooded and a new one had to be found. The modern convent was founded in 2001 under Bishop Mark (Tuzhikov). Today it is a flourishing community with churches, workshops, and farm buildings.

The Sacred Space of the Cell

A spiritual oasis: that is what the cell is in the life of every nun. In this secluded corner, where time follows its own laws, the sisters gather strength for the ascetic life. Each cell is like a small world where the earthly intertwines with the heavenly and everyday cares dissolve in prayer.

Prayer as the Foundation of Life

The rule of prayer is the cornerstone of the cell. Before stepping over the threshold of her dwelling, a nun turns to God. Prayer accompanies her throughout the day, from waking in the morning to the evening prayers. The sisters bring a prayerful spirit even to the most ordinary tasks.

Daily Life in the Cell

The working day begins right here. Within the modest walls of the cell a wonderful symphony of life unfolds: the click of a needle, the rustle of pages of spiritual books, the quiet lines of letters. After a busy day, the cell offers well-earned rest and a chance to gather strength for new endeavors.

Creativity as Service

Handicraft holds a special place in the life of the convent. The nuns turn their cells into real workshops where wonderful works are born. Their icons bring the faces of the saints to life, their embroidered vestments shine with special beauty, and the objects made by their hands are filled with spiritual power.
