Historical Background
The Church of the Archangel Michael, Commander of the Heavenly Hosts, was founded at the convent by Metropolitan Ignatius on May 12, 2013, and consecrated on December 20, 2015. The snow-white building with seven golden domes includes a three-tier bell tower, a baptistery with a font for full immersion, and a church shop. The church's distinctive feature is its unique golden iconostasis decorated with basma (embossed metal). Its icons were painted by the convent's sisters, and two of them, of St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov) and of the Mother of God Enthroned, began to stream myrrh in 2015. The bells for the church were chosen by Vladimir Petrovsky, a renowned Russian bell ringer, who also taught the nuns this art.
