Background

The scene of Marat being admitted to the Komsomol was filmed at the Yaroslavl Center for Scientific and Technical Information, built in 1977. In those days you couldn't travel abroad or enter a university without a Komsomol card. To join the Komsomol, you had to learn the Charter of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League and have a good character reference. In the story, Marat curried favor with the Komsomol and was admitted with great honor. After that he got into a fight with “Palto.” That scene was filmed by the Center building on the Volga Embankment side.
