The church school was built in 1869. It most likely housed the two-grade boys' and girls' schools that opened the same year. In Soviet times the building was a town secondary school. Today it stands empty.
In 1909 Sergei Kozlov graduated from the Volokolamsk church school. He would go on to become an aircraft designer and create an “invisible” airplane (PS-4).
