The Work of Vologda Poets
In the center of Vologda, at 36 Gertsena Street, stands a two-story wooden mansion — a cultural heritage site of federal significance. Built in 1868 and richly decorated with carving, before the revolution it belonged to Faina, Olga and Praskovya Sitnikova, daughters of a collegiate assessor. In Soviet times the building was divided into three apartments, and after restoration in 2005 it became home to the Vologda writers' organization and a branch of the museum-reserve, “Literature. Art. 20th Century”. This museum was the first official institution dedicated to the memory of Nikolai Rubtsov: one of its exhibitions is devoted to the poet's life and work.
