Description

We are on Lenin Square, and at a stereoscope again. The photograph of the place we'll see from this spot dates from 1910; its author is I. A. Tachalov. The card shows the District Court on the site of today's Tver City Duma. By following the QR code, you can get a detailed historical note about the building.

Historical Background

Lenin Square is a hero with a thousand names. It has been renamed more than once: Octagonal, Fountain, Monumental, Government Offices, Court, and Pravda (Truth) Square. Nevertheless, it shaped and defined the look of today's Sovetskaya Street, since all later design on the street was carried out in keeping with the stylistic unity of the square's ensemble. All the buildings here are architectural landmarks of federal significance.
