What a Hollow!

Pleshcheyevo is not only one of the largest lakes in central Russia but also one of the oldest. Buckle up, here come some amazing scientific facts. Near Pereslavl-Zalessky there is a deep hollow, about 200 meters (650 feet). It formed some 250 million years ago and then, over millennia, grew deeper and filled with ice. Time passed, comets streaked across open space, and the glaciers began to melt, filling the hollow with meltwater. And so Lake Pleshcheyevo came to be. Such are its Pleistocene vibes.
