This route introduces the difficult fate of Syzran's religious buildings. Before the revolution the town had 22 churches, two monasteries, and a theological school. Five old churches have survived to this day, forming a kind of Triangle of Faith. Learn more with Susanin's route.

The Best Panoramas of the Historic Town

The Monastery Embankment is the landscaped banks of the Syzranka and the Krymza, where the Ascension Monastery stands. From here open the most picturesque panoramas of the town's historic core. In 2021 the Monastery Embankment project received funding thanks to its victory in the All-Russian Competition of the Best Projects for Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment in Small Towns and Historic Settlements. Construction work was carried out in 2022–2023. As part of the project, a fountain was built that shoots up from beneath the water, and “artificial islands” appeared on the river.
