🗿 Monument
The bronze sculpture is almost three meters (10 feet) tall. Together with its red granite pedestal, the monument stands 5 meters (16 feet) high. The whole composition weighs about 5 metric tons (5.5 short tons).
The monument was ceremonially unveiled in 2016. The initiative to erect a monument to the founding father of the “town of Syzran” came from the Mercury business club. The sculptor is Albert Charkin, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts and People's Artist of Russia. Also working on the monument were the installation specialist Pyotr Gril and the Syzran-born architect Yuri Pavlov.
Although the monument is fairly new, it has already gathered legends and traditions. They say that if you make a wish and rub Kozlovsky's boot, it will surely come true. This tradition, born only very recently, has already become popular among locals and visitors to Syzran. Many believe in its power, and every day people come to the monument to make their most cherished wish. We can't say how true this legend is, but the monument to Grigory Kozlovsky is a place where people can find inspiration, make a wish, and feel a connection with the past.
