Historical Background
Vyborg has plenty of old buildings that remember different historical eras. But there is one old house here that seems unremarkable at first glance, even a little clumsy and odd. This is the Burgher's House, considered the oldest residential building in the country. Its exact construction date is unknown, but researchers believe it was built in the 16th century. Some think Vyborg's first printing house was located here in the 17th century. The interior got its present look after renovation in the 1960s, when the ceilings were raised and the stove heating was replaced with central heating. Today the Burgher's House holds two apartments.
