Historical Background

Near Krepostnaya (Fortress) Street stands a bright and unusual sight: a monument to the Vyborg tram. In the 20th century Vyborg had a full-fledged tram network, which closed in 1957. As a reminder for locals and tourists, a bright yellow early 20th-century tram car was installed here in 2018, along with sculptures of a conductor and a boy dodging his fare. Inside the tram is a cozy little café.
