Historical Background
Suzdal's Bishops' Chambers were built from the 15th to the 18th century, including a 17th-century tent-roofed bell tower and a house church. The architectural ensemble was considerably expanded by Metropolitan Hilarion in the 17th century. The buildings were used for ceremonies and served as the residence of the Suzdal metropolitans.
