Historical Background
The Convent of the Deposition of the Robe was founded in 1207, but none of its buildings from early Rus have survived. Most of the existing buildings date from the 16th century, including the famous Cathedral of the Deposition of the Robe. The convent holds the relics of St. Euphrosyne, to which people come to pray for the birth of children and for health.
