Suzdal is part of Russia's Golden Ring and lies in the Vladimir Region. It is a town of unhurried life that looks like an illustration to Russian fairy tales. Here you should stroll and breathe in the quiet, the calm, and the antiquity. In the center of Suzdal there are no high-rises, factories, or railway stations. Historical Background

A unique open-air museum of wooden architecture. It displays wooden buildings of the 18th–19th centuries. The museum includes houses, churches, and farm buildings brought from all over the Vladimir Region. These buildings are important monuments of Russian wooden architecture.

Architecture

On the museum grounds you can see peasant and merchant houses, windmills, treadwheel wells, and other structures. All the buildings were made without nails, as was characteristic of traditional Russian architecture of the time. Inside each building, the life and atmosphere of years past are re-created with original furniture and household items.

What's On

The museum is not just a static exhibition but a living cultural space. Folk festivities, holidays, and festivals are held here regularly, such as Maslenitsa and the Cucumber Festival. A great place to get to know Russian traditions and culture.
