Teriberka is a small settlement on the Kola Peninsula that has become a true gem for travelers. On this route you'll understand why the village became the most Instagrammable place in Russia and feel the atmosphere of a real “edge of the earth.” Even the most demanding foodies will be delighted by the fresh local sea urchins and scallops. And with a bit of luck you can photograph real whales, seals and, of course, a sky lit up by the northern lights.

Be Careful!

The constant movement of the water makes the boulders slippery, so walk carefully here, especially during storms, when the Barents Sea is at its roughest. Many people want to take a few pebbles home from the beach. Susanin asks you to leave the beach as you found it, especially since the stones are confiscated at the airport.

A Beautiful Legend

Scientists say the stones' curious shape is the result of the Barents Sea working on them for ages. Water washing over the beach for hundreds of thousands of years has smoothed away every rough edge, giving the stones their unique look. Still, there's a legend about dragons that lived in these parts long ago. They raised their young here, laying eggs that turned to stone over time. For centuries these smooth, multicolored boulders have stayed on the shore, some of them with cracks on the surface like fragments of shell.
