Teriberka is a small settlement on the Kola Peninsula that has become a true gem for travelers. On this route you'll understand why the village became the most Instagrammable place in Russia and feel the atmosphere of a real “edge of the earth.” Even the most demanding foodies will be delighted by the fresh local sea urchins and scallops. And with a bit of luck you can photograph real whales, seals and, of course, a sky lit up by the northern lights.

A Monument to Teriberka's Unique Nature

The “Whale Tails” art object has graced Teriberka since 2020. This steel sculpture, made in St. Petersburg, depicts two whale tails reaching for the sky. The installation, called “Oceans,” has become a symbol of Teriberka's unique nature and its bond with the sea. Its creator, Alexander Khromykh, conceived it as a reminder of the importance of preserving the Barents Sea ecosystem and protecting the whales that live in these waters.

A Boat Trip

In Teriberka you can set off on a sea trip and, with luck, see not only the stark scenery of the northern coast but the whales themselves. At different times of year these giants of the sea come close to the shores of the Barents Sea, offering a unique chance to watch them in their natural habitat. If you're in Teriberka for a few days, be sure to go to the pier and sign up for a boat trip. It's near the Nord Pilgrim hotel, on your left, on the opposite bank from you.

Onward to the Edge of the Earth!

This is where the tour of the village ends; next on the route we set off to explore the surroundings. Before that, Susanin recommends grabbing a bite. The café at the next stop on the route is a great choice.
