Symbol of Teriberka

On the shore, sunk deep in the sand, stands a ghost ship known locally as the “Flying Dutchman.” This listing trawler has become an unusual attraction, drawing tourists who want striking photos against its backdrop. The “Flying Dutchman” has become an integral part of the Arctic tundra, as if it had always stood on this shore. Walking along the beach under the vast sky to the sound of ringing waves, you can't take your eyes off the ship's silent silhouette. The rust-covered ship has become a favorite photo spot, especially when the northern lights flare behind it. Inside you can still make out traces of its former life: remnants of fishing gear and equipment once used in the wheelhouse. Since the vessel is firmly stuck in the sand, tourists can explore it easily without worrying that it will move.

A Chilling Story

The ship's origins are shrouded in mystery. In the winter of 2020, after a heavy snowstorm, locals found the vessel on Teriberka's beach. No one knows how it ended up on the shore, since there was no crew on board. The ship was empty, like the legendary Mary Celeste or the mythical Flying Dutchman. Where it came from and what happened to its sailors remain a mystery. What's more, the ship isn't listed in any register, which makes it all the more mysterious. Rusty barrels are still visible on deck, and inside you can find the remains of instruments that once helped the crew sail the ship.
