Description
The monument to Karl Marx in Tver was erected next to the City Garden in 1919. It is one of the first monuments to the German social thinker. On a concrete pedestal 1.5 meters (5 feet) high rests the head of Karl Marx, rendered in an epic style reminiscent of the heroes of Russian byliny (folk epics). The pedestal bears an inscription, a quotation from The Communist Manifesto: “Workers of all countries, unite!”
