Historical Background
This log house was built in 1884 by Kalinin, a prominent Belozersk merchant. Today it is considered a fine example of wooden architecture. The facade was painted red (later blue), and the pale window surrounds stand out against it. All the carving was done by hand. The delicate details look as if they were cut from fabric rather than wood.
