Historical Background
The House of Culture occupies a late 19th-century building. This two-story brick house is built in the Classical style and catches the eye with its austere pediment* and the attic** right above it. The facade is decorated with imitation large-block masonry, and the rooms have oval and rectangular windows. *A pediment is the part of a facade between the cornice and the roof: a triangular field decorated with sculpture. **An attic is a low decorative wall above the central part of a building.
