Historical Background

The V. Yu. Orlov Museum is in the city center, in a 17th-century mansion known as the House of the Society of Physicians. It displays a private collection of porcelain, cast iron, and silver: Russian and European decorative and household silver, artistic cast iron from Ural factories, and porcelain from Russian private factories.

The Museum's Founder

Vadim Yurievich Orlov is an honorary citizen of the city, chairman of the board of directors of the Yaroslavl Technical Carbon plant, a patron of the arts, and the owner of the collection of cast iron, silver, and household porcelain on display in the museum.

Architecture

The mansion that houses the museum is an architectural monument of federal significance, restored in 2014–2018. Its facade is in the late Classical style. Of the original 17th-century building, only the basement level (podklet) with its storerooms has survived.
