Historical Background

Formally this is a pond; in German it was called Mühlenteich, meaning “Mill Pond.” In the 13th century the knights of the Teutonic Order dammed a stream and built a water mill, creating the Mill Pond, now Lake Tikhoye (“Quiet Lake”).

The Boat Station

Here you can rent a boat to row along the lake and admire the views from the water. Or stroll along the embankment and take in the highlights: the Muse creative park, ancient 16th-century lindens, a coniferous forest, and a series of miniature sculptures, the “Svetlo-hedgehogs.” At the stall by the boat station, we recommend trying some unusual forest drinks that give the place a special flavor: for tea lovers, Ceylon tea brewed with pine cones and pine nuts; for coffee lovers, the same nuts but with cream and real pine-nut syrup.

The Lindens

Walk along the south shore past the centuries-old lindens, planted in the mid-16th century and entered in the Guinness Book of Records. Over almost 500 years they have grown to eight meters (26 feet) in girth.

The Muse Creative Park

The Muse creative park stretches along the embankment. Here you'll find pretty gazebos, an amphitheater, a musical playground, a rope park, and sculptures: a violinist and a girl reading fairy tales. The park is divided into 3 zones, for artists, musicians, and writers, each marked by a corresponding sculpture and equipped with Wi-Fi and USB points. Behind the rope park is a small, very pleasant wood with paths.
