Historical Background
The building was put up in 1895 by Sobtsov, a peasant who bought up and resold footwear. It stands out for its bright eclectic decor and a turret with a checkerboard roof. The original gates and wrought-iron details in the archway have survived, and in the inner courtyard there's still a balcony with a pattern of river anchors.
