Historical Background
This Art Nouveau complex was built in 1910 and 1913 by Andrei Naumovich Naumov, a flax trader from the village of Smenki. Before the revolution both buildings were rented out. In the three-story building, the second and third floors were taken up by the Kimry village public club, which had a grand piano, a card table, a stage, a drama group and a buffet serving wine. The two-story building, built in 1913, housed a movie theater with the grand name of the “Record” Grand Electric Theater.
