Historical Background
Ivan Vasilyevich Rybkin's house, built in 1913, is a vivid example of Kimry's rural wooden Art Nouveau. According to one version, it was designed for the Rybkin family by Ivan Vasilyevich's friend, the Kimry architect Nikolai Mikhailovich Butylin. Unfortunately, this has not been confirmed yet, but we would very much like to believe that such masterpieces of Kimry wooden architecture were designed by our own local craftsmen.
