Historical Background
The house of Fyodor Onufrievich Potapenko was probably built between 1900 and 1903 in the spirit of Rational Art Nouveau. The style is defined by its use of varied geometric shapes and asymmetry. The building features a large trapezoidal window and a round window in the turret, and even the ground-floor window frames are shaped like very elongated trapezoids. For a long time the house was completely unremarkable, gray and gloomy. But in 2018 it was restored by volunteers of the Tom Sawyer Fest Kimry festival and truly came alive with new colors.
