Historical Background
The house of the peasant Sergei Ivanovich Gorbylev was built in the mid-19th century and remodeled in 1911. The Gorbylev family had a shoemaking workshop that made men's, women's and children's shoes. They also traded in calico, broadcloth, silk, woolens and furs. Sergei Ivanovich was known as an active member of village public life and was elected volost elder. The ground floor was rented out to shops, the second floor housed a branch of the Azov-Don Commercial Bank, and the third floor was residential. The building was crowned by three tent-roofed turrets, which were lost in the 1940s. In Soviet times the house held the executive committee and various institutions. Today it is rented out as offices and shops.
