Historical Background

This is the only building on Pochtovaya built of red brick in the Russian Revival style. In the late 19th century it housed Moisei Davydovich Kurpel's famous tailoring studio. All of Ryazan's beau monde, from theater directors to fashionable ladies, came to Kurpel for the latest fashions, so impeccable were his dresses and suits. Today the building houses the regional Ministry of Finance.
